Barefoot Maui Weddings by Cat Hayes ~CEREMONY OF MARRIAGE~

(opening song verse: One Moment In Time)

Aloha nui loa. We are gathered at this moment in time and in spirit to enable and witness the first breath that this woman and this man draw together as one… as husband and wife. And in offering this very breath of life comes the meaning of the word 'aloha'.

We begin this ceremony with a lei exchange, the lei symbolizing your gift of love and aloha to each other...a never-ending circle. I ask you to each repeat after me in both Hawaiian and in English and then bestow your lei upon your love.

"E lei kau, e lei ho'oilo i ke aloha." "Love is worn like a wreath through the summers and winters; love is everlasting."

~

This is a new day; indeed the first day of new life; as you walk forward no longer alone but together. Love has brought you to this most beautiful of paths and I am honored to bid you life's blessings as you turn from this moment and into forever.

Love is such an awesome wonder.

That we can find someone in this world that connects with our soul on every level, that we would unquestioningly sacrifice for and that would unquestioningly sacrifice for us is a precious gift for which we should be thankful each and every day.

Precious. And not to be taken for granted. Today you give each other the ultimate treasure: your whole heart.

__________ and __________, the vows you are about to take are not to be taken without carefully reflective consideration. For in them you are committing yourselves exclusively to each other for as long as you both shall live.

Always remember that it is the softness, power, and privilege of love that has brought you to this place. Always treat your union as such – a privilege. Be good to each other. You are partners, neither above the other but rather on a plane of absolute equality. Only as equals can you continue to grow together.

In times of difficulty, have faith that you are not alone… and promise each other today to always be there for the other so that each can fall back with trust onto that faith.

Lift each other.

Embrace the moments of joy, of sorrow, of sweet, of growth, of change, of enlightenment, of confirmation, of laughter, and of tears. Cherish all of these moments for they are the album of your life.

~

And now I ask you to take a moment to each grant each other your vows of promise for your life union:

(Bride and groom make any personal statements and/or vows at this time)

(To Groom):

Do you, ____________, promise to take ___________ as your wife, and do you give to her your heart and unconditional love to support her and to share with her your very breath, your aloha, your life, and your soul through all of the highs and lows that you encounter as husband and wife?

If so, please say “I do.”

(To Bride):

And do you, ____________, promise to take ___________ as your husband, and do you give to him your heart and unconditional love to support him and to share with him your very breath, your aloha, your life, and your soul through all of the highs and lows that you encounter as husband and wife?

If so, please say "I do."

(ring exchange) May I please have the rings?

(To Groom) Please place this ring on ________'s left hand and repeat after me: "With this ring, I promise to cherish you always in all times till the end of my days."

(To Bride) Please place this ring on ________'s left hand and repeat after me: "With this ring, I promise to cherish you always in all times till the end of my days."

~

By the power granted to me by the State of Hawaii, I now pronounce you husband and wife.

You may seal your promise with a kiss.

(a capella Hawaiian Wedding Song)

Walk together in beauty and peace.

Aloha
